Sermon or Sermon Series Suggestion

The Bible is filled with so much knowledge about God and wisdom for life. Each Sunday when I share God's word I hope it will impact your life in a very personal way. Hearing from you allows me to gain other angles of where others might need God's wisdom or questions people might have that I won't think about on my own. Below I have included a list of suggestions and where they have influenced certain sermons or series, or up-coming sermons or series so that you can see where your suggestions went! There is no name or address attached to this email, you are fully anonymous, so there's no need to feel embarrassed.

Thanks for your candid suggestions,
Dusty D.

List of Used Suggestions:

Suggestion:

"Getting through the hard times", explaining practical ways that patience and faith will get you through the times when we need guidance from God the most.

Used in:

This suggestion was used in our April/May series of 2008 called, "In God's Hands." The topics chosen based on this suggestion were of the top topics of "worry" in our nation.
  • Health
  • Loniness
  • Relationships
  • Money
  • Suggestion:

So many contests and events have awards or trophies tied to their results (Indy 500,Super Bowl,World Series) I would like to hear more about our reward for this race we are running-Heaven. This Earth can cloud and distort what and why we are racing to it.

This suggestion was touched on during the "Transformed" series in 2007/2008. It was hit most directly in the middle sermon of that series "Transform my Existence."

    Suggestion:

How I love the sinner, but hate the sin. It is a very fine line to walk where I am standing up for my beliefs or being a bigot. How do I do the former and not become the latter?

    Used in:

This suggestion was used in our "Upside-down Kingdom - Part II" series in 2008. The sermon that was influenced by this suggestion was simply titled: "Loving Sinners."

    Suggestion:

I thought a good topic or series would be how as Christians we are called to minister each other through love and forgiveness not judgement, criticism, hypocrisy or sharp tongues. We're the primary way that Jesus is going to love on others. So often we, as Christians, are quick to condemn others for their harsh sins. We often find ourselves picking who we think deserves eternal life and often forgetting to show someone His love and forgiveness when they need it most...when they sin. We as Christians sometimes steer others away from the church by our not so Christian ways. We hear Christians condemning the sins of others everyday (ex: Abortion, Adultery, Addictions, Immorality). We forget that we are all sinners especially when we fail to show love but instead we gossip or judge with wicked tongues. Sometimes, we hold everyone to unrealistic high standards such as perfection. As Christians we need to accept everyone as they are. And understand that everyone who worships with us is broken and imperfect in some way or another. We need to make a commitment to each other to love as Jesus loves unconditionally.

This suggestion was an underlying theme in the "Upside-down Kingdom - Part II." There was more to this suggestion that might be used at a later date, and I believe this is a topic that will be intertwined through many different sermons and message series.
