Prayer Guide

Model the Lord’s Prayer for a time of personal prayer:

Matthew 6:9-13 (Luke 11:2-4):
  • Praise God’s name – Matthew 6:9b

    • Think of a few words that come to mind about God and praise Him for those qualities
  • Submit your will to His will – Matthew 6:10, 26:42

    • Ask that His Kingdom would take the place of your kingdom
    • Surrender specific parts of your life to Him that need to be surrendered
  • Ask for the things you need – Matthew 6:11

    • Bring specific requests to Him
  • Ask for forgiveness – Matthew 6:12

    • What specifically do you need to bring before God?
  • Ask for guidance to straighten your paths – Matthew 6:13

    • In specific situations, relationships, locations, or struggles in your life

Pray for God’s Church:

John 17; Acts 4:23-31, 12:1-17; Romans 1:8-17, 15:30-32; Ephesians 1:15-23, 3:14-21; 6:18-20; Philippians 1:3-11; Colossians 1:3-14, 4:2-4; 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12, 3:1-3; 1 Timothy 2:1-7
  • Global:  Around the world

    • Pray for strength and perseverance
    • Pray for the missionaries
  • National:  In America

    • Pray for boldness of the churches and repentance of the people
  • Local churches, “His City, This City,” etc.

    • Pray for power in unity and for the success of other local churches
    • Pray for the leaders and people of the various congregations
  • Our church:

    • Pray for Miamitown Church of Christ as a body
      • Pray for love, grace, humility, and peace
      • Pray for protection from Satan’s schemes and tactics
      • Pray for unity by the Holy Spirit
        • To be like-minded and like-hearted
      • Pray for joy and gladness every time we gather together
  • Pray for the Leadership (the Elders and Staff)

    • Pray for wisdom, guidance, and direction
    • Pray for strength and perseverance
    • Pray for a time of refreshing and being able to enjoy the roles God has called them to
  • Specific people in our church: 

    • Thank God specifically for the Spiritual Fruit you see in the lives of others
    • Pray that they would grow even closer to God
      • To know Him better and for the reality of the hope we have to grow in their heart
    • Pray for specific needs of individuals
  • Your family:  Spouse, children, parents, etc.

    • You know them intimately, pray for the things no one else would know to pray for
