America. We wave the flag. We celebrate our national holidays with fervor. But I fear for the future. I was watching a show one evening, it was on PBS, I believe, and the show was talking about America’s future. The show called America, “Romerica” comparing our society to that of Rome just before it fell. I have had my own personal thoughts on this subject, but the writers of this show had done a considerable amount of research and what were my foggy fears were laid out plainly and supported through fact after fact. Our independence and success has brought a lot of good to our country. But it has also opened the doors for “old school” pagan worship. I’m not saying that we will see our children sacrificed into the smoldering hands of a statue to Molech any time soon, but practices of pagan religions have really gained an influence in the world around us. And I believe that we have falsely grown accepting of our environment. Tolerant. And much like the nation of Israel in the Old Testament, we have allowed many “Idols” into our lives. In our Bibles we have three letters from John. Now most people end a letter with a salutation of some sort, either formal or informal: “Take care.” “Sincerely.” “Best wishes.” “Yours respectfully.” “Peace out.” But John ends his first letter a little different than most…
